Have you had a chance to read our latest blog? If so, then you already know when you should see a fertility doctor and what signs to look for that could indicate a fertility problem. If you know that infertility isn’t a problem for you, but you are still having trouble conceiving, then you should know that infertility is just one of the many things that could cause you to have trouble conceiving. The following is a list from our OBGYN in Venice of a few of the possible reasons why you aren’t getting pregnant:
- Weight – Being overweight can affect almost every area of your life, including your ability to conceive. Carrying around too much extra weight can affect ovulation. Being underweight can also make it difficult to conceive because it can cause periods that are irregular or absent altogether. Having a BMI within the healthy range of twenty to twenty-five can significantly increase your chances of getting pregnant.
- Caffeine – You should not only cut back on caffeine after you become pregnant, but you should also cut back when you are trying to conceive. Studies have shown that when you drink more than one cup of coffee per day, your are about half as likely to conceive.
- Sleep – One of the hormones that are important for fertility, leptin, is significantly reduced when you don’t get enough sleep. If you are trying to conceive, you should aim for at least seven hours of sleep every night.
