In our most recent blog, our OBGYN in Venice went over a few tips for getting an accurate result with a home pregnancy test. To recap, we talked about following all of the instructions, not taking your test too early and using morning urine to take your test. The following is a list of a few more tips for taking home pregnancy tests:
- Don’t drink too much – Drinking too much of any liquid, especially water, can really dilute your urine. While it may help you to have enough urine to take the test, you may also get an inaccurate result. Wait until you have to go on your own, preferably in the morning. Don’t force it!
- Set an alarm – Don’t take a guess at how long it’s been since you took the test. Read the instructions, and then set an alarm for the time it takes for your test to give you a result. If you get impatient and you check too early, you could get a false negative.
- Use a cup – It can be difficult to urinate directly onto the stick, so don’t be afraid to use a cup! Most women find that it is much easier to pee into a cup than on a stick. The best part about using a cup is that it can be used with more than one test.
We have just a few more tips for you to help you to get the most accurate result out of your home pregnancy test. Please stay tuned for our next blog to learn more.
