They say that it takes three weeks to start a new habit, but when you start taking birth control pills, you often can’t wait the three weeks to train yourself. You have to figure it out now! The pill is an incredibly popular form of birth control, and it is a great choice for many women, but remembering to take it everyday, especially at first, can be so tough! Luckily, our OBGYN in Bradenton has come up with this list of tips to help you to remember to take your birth control every day:

  • Set an alarm- If you are like most people, you are probably never without your cellphone, and you can use it to help you to remember to take your pill! Set a recurring alarm everyday, so that you always have something reminding you to take your pill.
  • Associate it with your regular routine- Do you religiously drink a cup of coffee every morning, or do you never go to bed at night without brushing your teeth? You could attach a note to your coffee pot or your toothbrush, or you could even tape your box of pills itself to those things!
  • Get help from a friend or partner- If you are constantly forgetting, it can really help to have another person reminding you to take your pill. Ask your partner or a friend to set an alarm to remind you to take your pill everyday.
