Staying comfortable at work during pregnancy is easier said than done.

There are times during your pregnancy when you are going to be uncomfortable, and when you have to work during pregnancy, it can really increase your discomfort. However, there are a few things you can do to increase your comfort at work, and our certified midwife in Sarasota has come up with this list of a few tips to keep you comfortable at work during pregnancy:

#1. Purchase a small fan for your desk.

Pregnancy causes the body’s temperature to naturally rise, which can make it all too easy to feel hot and sweaty while sitting at the office. Rather than sweating and being miserable all day, invest in a small fan for your desk.

#2. Make sure your clothes are as comfortable as possible.

Professional doesn’t have to equal uncomfortable, and when you are pregnant, you need to do everything you can to stay comfortable at work. Layers are a great option during pregnancy because you can take off and add on layers when you get hot or cold. It’s also a good idea to stick with loose fitting clothes, as too much restriction can be uncomfortable.

#3. Wear flat shoes.

While heels may have been a normal part of your professional wardrobe before pregnancy, they aren’t ideal during pregnancy. The increased progesterone can lead to balance issues, plus you are likely to experience swollen feet. Opt for a comfortable pair of flats instead of those uncomfortable heels!
